An Exceptional Week in Osaka

Disaitek is proud to have been selected as one of only three startups invited to join the Val d'Oise Department delegation to Osaka, Japan. This exceptional economic mission brought together key stakeholders from the region, including the President of the Val d'Oise Department, the President of the Val d'Oise Economic Expansion Committee (CEEVO), the Director General of CEEVO, the President of the Val d'Oise Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), and the President of Val d'Oise Numérique, along with its Director General. The delegation also included numerous elected officials, institutional representatives, and academics from the region.

This unique opportunity to represent French innovation on the international stage was meticulously organized, enabling us to forge stronger ties between France and Japan while showcasing how innovations from Val d'Oise resonate globally.

Day 1: World Expo 2025 Osaka - A Journey Through Innovation

Our first day began with a visit to the World Expo 2025 Osaka, an extraordinary showcase of global innovation and culture. We started at the France Pavilion, which has already welcomed an impressive 4 million visitors. The pavilion's General Commissioner provided us with an exclusive introduction to this immersive experience that masterfully blends cutting-edge technology, French luxury, and a central theme that runs throughout: love.

Following this, we were granted a rare privilege: a private tour of the Japan Pavilion, organized exclusively for our delegation by the Osaka Prefecture. This behind-the-scenes access allowed us to experience Japan's vision for the future in an intimate and profound way, showcasing the country's commitment to innovation while honoring its rich cultural heritage.

Day 2: Showcasing Val d'Oise Innovation and Sustainable Agriculture

The second day took us to the Osaka Knowledge Center for a pivotal meeting with the Osaka Prefecture. This session provided a platform for Val d'Oise startups to present their innovative solutions to Japanese stakeholders. Disaitek had the honor of presenting alongside two other forward-thinking companies: Upciti, specializing in urban intelligence solutions, and KLONA, an immersive platform pushing the boundaries of digital experiences.

In the afternoon, we immersed ourselves in the future of sustainable food production with a visit to the Plant Factory PFC Osaka Research and Development Center. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to developing sustainable farming solutions in response to climate change challenges. The technologies we witnessed represent a paradigm shift in how we approach food security and environmental sustainability.

The evening concluded with an inaugural reception hosted by the Val d'Oise Departmental Council. The event brought together officials from the Osaka Prefecture, the Consul General of France in Osaka, and the Director of the Knowledge Center, who is also a pioneer in digital art in Japan. This gathering strengthened diplomatic and economic ties between our regions.

Day 3: Exploring Breakthrough Technologies in Keihanna Science City

Our final day brought us to Keihanna Science City, home to the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), one of Japan's premier research centers. Researchers presented groundbreaking technologies that are reshaping multiple industries:

Revolutionary Plastic Recycling with Acbiode

The first innovation showcased was Acbiode, a revolutionary approach to plastic recycling that promises to transform how we handle plastic waste. This technology represents a significant step forward in addressing one of the world's most pressing environmental challenges, offering new hope for a circular economy.

Wireless Power Transmission for Autonomous Drones

Perhaps most striking was the demonstration of microwave-based wireless power transmission technology, enabling drones to be recharged in flight. This breakthrough has profound implications for autonomous systems, emergency response operations, and long-duration surveillance missions, effectively eliminating one of the key limitations of current drone technology.

Empathetic Robotics and the Concept of Shosa

The highlight of our visit was discovering Japan's latest advances in empathetic human-robot interaction. Japanese researchers are pioneering work in what they call 所作 (shosa) - the expression of emotions through gestures and behaviors. This concept goes beyond simple functional robotics to create machines that can understand and respond to human emotions in nuanced ways.

This research represents a fundamental shift in how we conceive human-robot relationships, moving from purely transactional interactions to genuinely empathetic connections. The implications for healthcare, elderly care, and human assistance are profound and align closely with Disaitek's own vision of technology that serves humanity in meaningful ways.

Building Bridges Between France and Japan

This mission to Osaka was far more than a simple business trip. It represented a unique opportunity to strengthen the bonds between France and Japan, two nations with a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological excellence. For Disaitek, it was a chance to demonstrate how innovations developed in Val d'Oise can find resonance and application on the international stage.

The technologies we encountered in Japan - from sustainable agriculture to empathetic robotics - align remarkably well with our own vision at Disaitek. As we continue to develop solutions that address global challenges, these international partnerships and knowledge exchanges become increasingly vital. The future of innovation is collaborative, crossing borders and cultures to create solutions that benefit all of humanity.

We return from Osaka energized and inspired, carrying not just memories but concrete opportunities for collaboration and growth. The connections forged during this mission will undoubtedly shape Disaitek's trajectory as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in sustainable technology.
