Understanding EUDR

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), adopted end of 2022, is a landmark initiative by the European Union to combat deforestation and forest degradation. It targets the environmental and human rights impacts associated with the production and trade of key commodities such as palm oil, cattle, timber, coffee, cocoa, rubber and soy.

The Regulation requires companies importing or exporting these commodities into the EU to ensure that their supply chains are deforestation-free and meet strict sustainability criteria. This includes products made from these commodities, such as chocolate, furniture, printed paper and certain palm oil-based goods.
